Myopic Books in Wicker Park

Bookshops are an essential part of cultural life, and a wonderful way for people who love books to meet, talk, and explore. Myopic Books, with three stories and a basement of floor to ceiling bookshelves, is filled with a  great selection of new, used, rare, limited edition, and signed books. It is a book lovers dream, and conveniently located less than a mile away from Ray's!

 Sundays:
Funk samba party with live music by Will From Brazil. The fun starts at 9pm, and ends at 2am.
Tuesday: 
Open Mic Hip Hop Battle - Hip Hop Tuesdays bring local talent to the mic, and people come back every week to watch or compete in this melting pot meeting place for underground rappers. From 10pm-2am, and beer pitchers are $5.
Thursday:
  If you feel like dancing, moving and sweating to some modern and classic reggae, head to the Reggae Gold Dance Party. Voted best reggae night by Chicago Magazine, you will be sure to start your weekend off right. Starts at 10pm, and ends at 2am, but head there early so you won't need to wait in line.
Friday: 
Flashback Fridays spin party classics from the 60s-90s. Listen to motown, disco, funk, house and more while whirling around the dance floor. Starts 10:30pm, and ends at 2am

Start the new year off right with a spelling bee!

The Elbo Room hosts a free monthly buzzed spelling bee. There are speed rounds, shot rounds,and the winner gets a $50 bar tab, along with tickets to a show of their choice. Some buzzing $3 PBR Tall Boys are available as well.
