Chicago Dancing Festival

In 2006, Lar Lubovitch, a Chicago native, and internationally renowned choreographer, joined up with Jay Franke, an esteemed dancer also from Chicago, and decided to gather some performers and put on a show. It was one free performance at Millennium Park, where seven companies from across the country took the stage, and turned out an attendance of eighty five hundred people.

It was the beginning of the Chicago Dancing Festival, which nine years later, is still going strong every summer. This year, there will be more than five companies in attendance including the Lar Lubovich Dance Company, The Kate Weare Company, and The Hubbard Street Dancers.

You can catch the festival in various locations around Chicago starting Tuesday, August 25:

Tuesday August 25: Opening Night Celebration, Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 7:30 pm
